Jonathan wooed to become
Biafran first president
President Jonathan
President Jonathan is being
wooed by Biafrans to help
actualise Biafra Republic and in
turn become the first President
of the new country. As the
amalgamation of Northern and
Southern protectorates of
Nigeria approaches its 100 years
without any meaningful
achievement, many sections of
the country are preparing for the
declaration of various
independent states – as they
were prior the amalgamation.

According to investigations (see
part of the Nigerian
Amalgamation correspondence
by Fredrick Lugard), the
amalgamation was meant to last
for only 100 years, after which
Nigerians will renegotiate their
coexistence. Among the sections
are the indigenous people of
Biafra, who are agitating for the
revival of the Biafran state as the
Nigeria officially comes to an end
on 31 December, 2013. Callers on
the Radio Biafra London, who
are brainstorming on how to
achieve the aim have suggested
strong worded letter be sent to
President Jonathan to forego his
2015 ambition and rather work
towards the creation of Biafra. In
return for his efforts, Biafra
would be willing to allow him
become the first president of the
new Biafran Republic.

My Encounter With Mami-wata Spirit by Monene

They say there is a thin line between sanity and insanity.it just takes a little spark at the wrong place to cross to the other side. This was my line of thought as i sat butt Unclad on the cold cement floor with my hands and legs bound with strong ropes bought from all those hausa boys at swali market.the putrid smell of urine that emanated from the corner of the church made my uncomfortable but the people that put me here weren't concerned about my comfort.so i had to shift from here to there with the little space i was provided but this men and women clad in white garments, holding little rods in their hands(with diff symbols on it) just wouldn't let me be.they danced and chanted in languages i could not understand, maybe they were speaking in tongues, but i doubt it.I managed to strain my neck to look at the three women sitting at the far side away from these group surrounding me.from the few glances i could steal,i saw that the older woman was crying, while one of the women tried to comfort her.the last one was staring at me,i could see the pity in her eyes.it instantly recognised who this women where;my mother and two sisters amaka and mary.wetin them dey do here?So they where here to witness my deliverance.i couldn't help but smile at the irony of it all.they were ones that dumbed me in this God forsaken place and vowed never to come see me again, yet they were here out of feigned love to witness how these holigans were going to cast the spirit+madness out of me.especially that mary with her eye-service coupled with abroko.she should be the one down here not me.
My mother jumped from were was sitting and ran towards me but she was held back by my sisters "see wetin my enemies don do my only son" i heard her say above this chanting and dancin.at that moment i wondered have i really kolo because of what i saw and experienced that night?..i tried to think back to that night, trying to piece to events together as they had taken place.just when i was about to go back in time i was interrupted by the ringing of a bell.the whole place suddenly fell quiet.the large door that was the entrance to the church flung open with a large crack.at the door stood two females holding all this red big candles at their centre stood the most reverend bishop ajekunle abatola kunle ak.a the demon extinquisher.he was the general overseer and founder of cherubim and sepharim of heaven and earth int(cshe)...at that moment i screamed in my mind 'see gobe!!'
The demon extinquisher was a man of average height,a bigman with bout belly(cus of too much gulder) which fit his rank and status.he ways also a very popular man in Ijebu and beyond.he was known for his ruthlessnes and wealth. He had this menacing look in his eyes, that kind that says 'you don die for my hand today'.fear gripped me as he used his large hands covered with rings to grap my head, his hands where very tough to the touch.he spoke yoruba rapidly to one of his aides, who quicly scrampled of to carry out his masters orders.from the little i could pick from this staunch yoruba,i could decipher the words water, oil and the last one that seemed like holy cane.'which one come be holy cane ni?' .fround the sound of it,it sounded somewhat scary, but what could be possibly wrong with a cane,an holy one for that matter.i was about to get the biggest shock of my life.

Two minutes later the items were brought in one after the other, then came the famous holy cane,it was wrapped in red cloth so i couldn't see what it looked like.he ordered them to bring the water, which he sprinkled on my body while he chanted in yoruba and danced around me.this went on for another 4-six minutes.it was time to unleash the holy cane.he unwraped it from its cloth with the help of one of his aides.behold what i saw before me wasn't just an ordinary cane.i'm sure this came from hell than from heaven.it was 45cm long, its weight and breadth was left to my imagingation.i could not estimate the substance it was made from(either metal or wood or metal and wood),but what i could estimate was the amount of damage it will inflict on my body.
He raised it up for all to see,it was sparkling as the sun rays hit it from the open window.demon extinquisher took the oil and rubbed it round the holy cane,he did not rush atall,he did it with as much care as possible, like he was pampering a crying child.i could see this cane had sentimental value to him(sumtin i will later use to my advantage).to add the final finishings he spat on it,my heart jumped up at this.it was a cold harmatan morning but i could feel the sweat dropping from my body."angel michael, angel gabriel.oh!angel rachael, sepharim take charge"he said, spit ran out of his mouth as he yelled.he raised the cane up high,as high as possible.i closed my eyes and braced myself for impact.WHOOP!! It came down hard and fast.i swear to Allah i have never felt such pain in my life.oboy na die i dey so.but i be man i wouldn't cry na.aba that na falling hand.so naive i was..then came the second and third.i tightened my body and clenched my fist.by the time the fourth and 5th missiles landed i felt something hot, liquid between my legs.poo!i don piss for body.the sixth, seventh and 8th,i didn't know when i started calling out "mama biko.take am easy.i be your pikin na".the 9th and 10th.....Chai!!! See what that fine mami-wata girl has caused o.i could have followed her to her kingdom than to bear this na.if they had filmed it and showed me i would i have denied.but here i was crying, begging, rolling in my filth.my mind slowly drifted back to that night,10days ago when i met that yeye mami-wata gal.
That day the harmatan season just started and i had to leave work early.i a job in abate oil and gas,to tell you the truth i never struggled to get a job.as a fresh ijaw boy that came from a community that had oil getting a job wasn't hard, just settle community the work is yours.if the oil company refuses to give us youth that just graduated then they would have big wahala on their hands.before i 4get my name is benjamin john ebuka opuowei.my real guys call me bj(not what you think).the name ebuka came from my mothers side.she is an igbo woman..
I swaggered out of the company like i owned the place.at the gate i find ahmed small thing to lock-up and look the other way.one of the first things 4 learned in this our job is that you must settle, from gateman all the way up to your oga if you want anything done fast or else OYO for you.i had not bought a car at that time so i hailed a keke to take me to mama sere's place in opolo.it took twenty minutes to get there, the time was 6:30pm.some of my real guys where already on their 3rd bottle by the time i got there.i swiftly ordered one chilled heineken from mama sere.one of her fine girls brought it to me.oboy if you see what this girl was wearing.the bosoms just stand out from the blouse.i was more interested in her than the heineken in her hand.as a sharp guy that i am i quickly asked her name.'my name na Ebiere" she answered.'i neva see u here before'i went on."oga me na new girl o".i say okay.as she bent down to open the heineken her big bosoms rubbed my arm.i took a quick glance at them, the two giants where just staring back at me.i didn't know when i liked my lips."come see me later when u dey less busy" i said, she nodded and left.one of my guy sammy started hailing me."bj u na bros o.see how to dey look am.all those many gfs wey u get nor do u".what was this dude saying."you never hear say the more the merrier".
I felt someone tab me on the back.i turned and saw ebiere standing there smiling.she had changed her clothes, she was now wearing a short skirt that was well above the knee, and a shirt that showed her cleaves for all to see.she whispered something that only i could hear.i nodded and waved her off.after she was gone i told my friends i wanted to take a piss.it didn't take me time to find the door with "toilet" inscribed ontop.i got a sudden feeling of de javu as i saw this sign, this was where i had scored some three other chicks.a smile found itself on one side of my face.i shook it off and stepped.there she was waiting.,
'can you handle me?' she asked.'lets wait and see i replied.it all started with the lipsing, then i took it a little further as i stretched my hand down there,i rummaged the surface and found she was not wearing panties.my fingers went to work.the groans that filled the air was enough to encourage me.her hands found my senior bros,by this time he was very angry and ready to attack.and attack he did.trust canine to help in this situation.it all but took minutes and it was all over.she left first, and after waiting for some time i followed and went back to our drinking table whispering like i was coming back from emptying my bladder.funny me.
Something strange was happening by the time i got back.my guys where huddled together in a close knot talking in whispers, their girlfriends were in another table,or some had left.when my guys behave in such a strange manner something was up.i quickened my pace.there was a new face now.it was moses afolabi, wetin this yoruba boy dey do here?.me and moses go way back to my secondary school days.he is one person i can call a true friend.the guy used to help me do my math assignments those days and apart from being more handsome than me his father was loaded.but what i like about him is that he shared my likeness for the female folks.birds of a feather they say.
"mosbi how you dey".he got up to shake me.the way he even said the fine you will know something was wrong.he was in his usual cheerful self.i looked round the table, nobody was smiling either.they all had long faces.'wetin dey do all of una self?'' i asked."guy sitdown.serious matter dey ground".i found an empty chair and joined in the conversation."oya i don sitdown, wetin happen?".he looked down as he answered "paulo don kick bucket o".i couldn't believe my ears."paulo.which paul?"."na our paulo o.paul zacchus"..this was not true i told myself,i saw the guy two weeks ago."na lie" i shouted."how he take die?" i asked.he hesistated, looked at the others, took a deep breath before dropping the bomb shell."na,na,mami-wata".my throat dried instantly, this was truly serious.i could feel my spine stiff.oh No not again.paul was the 12th person mami-wata has killed.

2015: Buhari, Tambuwal Divide APC

MEMBERS of the All Progressives Congress (APC) are currently divided over who between former head of state and presidential candidate of the defunct Congress for Political Change (CPC), Gen. Muhammadu Buhari, and the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon. Aminu Tambuwal, will fly the party’s flag in the 2015 presidential election.

Saturday Tribune gathered that while influential figures in one of the constituent parties, the defunct Action Congress of Nigeria (CAN), and some Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) elements in the new merger party are strongly rooting for Tambuwal, Buhari still commands overwhelming following in the defunct CPC and ANPP.

A highly placed APC source in Jigawa State told the Saturday Tribune that Buhari’s following in the merger arrangement is so strong that at a recent meeting held in Kaduna, the former governor of Kano State, Malam Ibrahim Shekarau, who could have posed a threat to Buhari’s candidature, was prevailed upon to step down for the retired General.

Those who are rooting for Buhari to fly the APC’s flag believe that he remains the strongest presidential material in the merger party that can effectively checkmate President Goodluck Jonathan or whoever the PDP presents for the 2015 presidential election.

The source, who preferred anonymity, told Saturday Tribune that both Buhari and Shekarau were persuaded at the meeting to forget whatever political differences existed between them and work as a formidable team for the success of the party.

However, some influential members of the defunct ACN, among them the national leader of the party, Bola Tinubu, and some governors on the party’s ticket, are said to favour Tambuwal’s candidature.

At a recent event in a South-West state, attended by Tambuwal, a state governor was said to have invited one of his friends to “come and meet our next president” (referring to Tambuwal, who had just arrived), giving an impression that the choice of Tambuwal as the APC standard bearer in 2015 election was a done deal.

“Those who are rooting for Tambuwal believe that he will be more politically marketable than Buhari, given his youthfulness; but with the retired General’s increasing popularity in the North, the fear is also real that the new party may sound its own death knell in the zone if it fails to field Buhari,” the source said.

The Interim National Chairman of the party, Chief Bisi Akande, has, however, denied that the party had started thinking of who would be the party’s presidential candidate.

“If we start thinking about that, we will start digging political well. We want to build a political structure. By the time the structure is solid, we will choose whoever will represent us in Aso Rock. I don’t think that will give us a problem,” he said in an interview last week.

80 Nigerians Deported From Saudi Arabia

The deportees reportedly arrived in the country on board an Ethiopian Airline plane at about noon.

Mr Daniel Obot, the Assistant Director, Relief and Rehabilitation, National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), told newsmen at the Airport that the deportees were part of the 508 Nigerians residing illegally in Saudi Arabia.

He said the Federal Government approved their repatriation after they voluntarily agreed to return home, adding that they would be handed over to officials of their State Emergency Management Agency after due clearance.

Also speaking to newsmen, the Director Consular and Immigration Services in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Mr Abdulazeez Dan-Kano, said the 80 deportees were from eight states of the country.

Dan-Kano said that 31 of the deportees are from Kano State, 19 from

Borno, three from Bauchi State and eight from Jigawa.

Similarly, he said that seven of the deportees are from Yobe, two from Plateau, nine from Katsina State and one from Nasarawa State.

Dan-Kano said that those deported were mainly women, children and the sick.

He said that more deportees were expected to arrive in the country on Thursday.

Dan Kano said that the deportees indicated their interest to return to Nigeria following a November deadline issued by the Saudi Authorities for all illegal immigrants to leave the country.

He said that 951 other Nigerians arrested by the Saudi authorities were being held in a camp in the country, and that they would return home at the instance of the Saudi government.

Bloody Christmas In Lagos And Cross River

It was a bloody Christmas celebration in Lagos and Cross River states as no fewer than nine persons were killed in auto accidents on Tuesday night and on Wednesday morning.
Five people comprising a baby, her mother, two brothers and a driver died on Wednesday in the Lagos State accident, while four youths died in the Cross River accident.
In Lagos, our correspondent learnt that apart from the five people that perished on Christmas day, another lady suffered a fracture after a container which was on an articulated truck fell on a commercial bus on Alaba Suru Road in the Ajeromi-Ifelodun area of Lagos.
Eyewitnesses said the baby, her mother, the two brothers and the bus driver, who were victims of the accident, were returning from the Lagos Island.
It was said the two brothers went to purchase bangers for the New Year celebration.
The crash was said to have been caused by a mentally unstable woman, who laid in the middle of the road, thereby creating confusion for the truck driver who was on top speed.
Eyewitnesses toldPUNCH Metrothat the yellow LT bus, with number plate, MUS-975-XC, had also stopped by the side of the road to drop off a passenger, which precipitated the accident.
A resident, Mohammed Wasiu, said, “The incident happened around 8.30am. I saw the mad woman walking around this morning. She just decided to sleep on the road at that time.
“The LT bus was going towards Mile 2. There were about eight people in the bus. The driver decided to stop because someone wanted to get down from the bus.
“As this was going on, the truck was coming on full speed. There were two trucks; one was already ahead, so the second truck driver wanted to catch up.
“When he got to that point and saw the mad woman on the road, he wanted to avoid crushing her. As he maneuvered the truck, its side hit the bus, and the container fell on the bus.”
Wasiu said residents immediately rushed to the scene and began to cut the vehicle with saws in order to save the occupants who were in pain.
Another eyewitness, who did not identify himself, said, “The two brothers who were at the back of the bus were trapped. They had packs of bangers that they just bought. The woman, who wore a shawl, and was carrying a baby, could not also escape. They all died, including the driver.
“It was only a lady that was at the entrance to the door that escaped with a fracture.”
After the accident, angry residents were said to have seized the mentally unstable lady and beaten her up. Some of the residents said it was the second time she would trigger such accident. She was, however, rescued by policemen.
At the rescue operation scene were officials of the National Emergency Management Agency, Federal Road Safety Corps, Lagos State Traffic Management Agency, policemen, and the Lagos State Emergency Medical Services.
The NEMA spokesperson, South-West Zone, Ibrahim Farinloye said, “The incident happened at 8.30am, but we were not alerted till around 11.46am. NEMA was able to mobilise other rescue officials to the scene. At the end of the rescue operation, a woman and her baby with two men died, while a lady was rescued alive. She however had a fractured leg. The corpses have been taken to a mortuary in Oshodi.”
The police Public Relations Officer, Lagos State, Ngozi Braide, said she would call back to give details on the accident.
In Cross River, four youths were on Tuesday killed, while several others were injured after a Mercedes Benz 911 truck rammed into them by the road side at the Akamkpa area of the Calabar-Ikom highway.
The incident, which occurred around the state’s college of education in Awi, Akamkpa Local Government Area, left the community in mourning.
PUNCH Metrogathered on Wednesday that the truck with number plate, Lagos FKJ 505 XC, was immediately burnt by angry mob, while the driver, Chidi Duruba, and the truck conductor, Edwin Oragunye, were thoroughly beaten up.
Two of the injured persons are Blessing Etim and Okechukwu Mbaka. The whereabouts of the six other injured persons could not be immediately ascertained.
An eyewitness, Ekam Emmanuel, said, “About 6am on Tuesday, some youths from Mbarakom community decided to go for a road walk along the Calabar-Ikom highway.
“A Mercedes Benz 911 truck with the number plate, FKJ 505 XC rammed into them from behind and the incident claimed four lives on the spot while several others were injured.
“This incident happened at 6am when I came to clean my shop. I met the youths jogging on the highway but suddenly a truck coming from Calabar on high speed climbed on the four that died on the spot.
“As a result of the tragedy, the Mbarakom youths got angry, the truck driver and his conducter were almost killed when they stopped to see what had happened. They were seriously beaten up, while the truck was set ablaze.”
Emmanuel said another truck, marked Cross River, KAM 45 XA, was also forcefully stopped by the angry mob and set ablaze. He added that the driver escaped being lynched.
She said the anger continued as the youths further burnt another oncoming Audi 80 commercial car, adding that the intervention of the combined team of military and police patrol teams brought the situation under control.
A police officer in the Akamkpa division, Eric Bassey, who is of the traffic department, confirmed the report. He said, “The DPO got an early morning distress call that there was a riot going on in Awi. He immediately gave us orders and on getting to the scene we discovered that three vehicles were burnt and some casualties were there.
“The casualties included some dead bodies, while several others, who sustained injuries, were taken to the hospital for medical attention.
“We were informed that the driver and the conductor of the truck that caused the accident were being held hostage at Mbarakom. We acted swiftly, but discovered that they had been beaten up badly. We rescued them and took them to the General Hospital at Akamkpa where they are still receiving treatment.”
He said peace had been restored in the troubled community.
When contacted, the state Police Public Relations Officer, Mr. Hogan Bassey, confirmed the incident, adding that the police had been able to bring the situation under control.

Obasanjo, Other Politicians Don’t Own Nigeria –jonathan

President Goodluck Jonathan again on Wednesday hit out at former President Olusegun Obasanjo over an  18-page letter  in which  he  accused  him  of deceit, deception, dishonesty, incompetence and clannishness.

He had on Sunday  described the  letter  as full of lies.

The President revisited the issue during a Christmas Day service held at the Cathedral Church of the Advent, Life Camp, Gwarinpa, Abuja.

Though he did not mention the name of the former President specifically, Jonathan regretted that some politicians who thought the country belonged  to them had started thinking about the next election.

In the process, he said,   such politicians had   started doing what they ought not to do, including writing letters.

He said contrary to what they thought, the country did not belong to any politician or group of politicians.

Rather, he said Nigeria  belonged to statesmen, traditional rulers, religious leaders, men, women and youths.

Jonathan said, “We politicians that think we own this country and  are already  thinking  about next election; we are doing what we ought not to do;  making statement we ought not to make and writing letters we are  supposed not to write.

“This  country belongs to our statesmen, traditional rulers, religious leaders, our men, our women, our youths.  Nigeria does not belong to any politician or group of politicians. So,  we will  continue to urge the clergymen  to pray for this country.”

Jonathan also spoke on  terrorism in parts of the country,  saying  Nigerians were lucky that the situation was  being brought under control.

Citing the example of Pakistan, Jonathan argued that naturally, countries infested with terrorism hardly survived  it.

While recalling past cases of bombing recorded in the Federal Capital Territory, he guessed that the Presidential Villa, Abuja could have been the next target.

“For those who know about terrorism, countries  that are infested with it  hardly get out of it. If you look at a country like Pakistan where we even  train some  of our soldiers,  there appears  to be no government in some parts of it. So the situation in this  country (Nigeria) could have been worse.

“In Abuja which is the seat of government,  even the police headquarters was bombed and the United Nations building was also bombed . Maybe the next target would have been the State House.

“So we have to thank God that we have been able to bring terrorism  to a reasonable level, though we are far from getting out of it. There are a lot of challenges but we have to thank God.”

While making reference to the sermon delivered by the Primate of the Church of Nigeria, Anglican Communion, Most. Revd. Nicholas Okoh, Jonathan agreed that none of  Nigeria’s  neighbouring countries would be able to accommodate Nigerians  “if we  had a   crisis.”

He noted that currently, if not for political and diplomatic reasons, some Nigerians in neighbouring countries would have been asked to leave because their hosts are not too comfortable with their presence.

Jonathan  said, “The Primate was asking if Ghana or Sierra Leone could accommodate us  if we have a crisis.  I was just laughing because now ,  the people  of those countries are  not even comfortable with Nigerians living with them. If not  for political and diplomatic reasons, they would have even asked some of them to leave.

“Assuming we have crisis, where will you go? Is it the Atlantic Ocean? So I urge you to continue to pray.

“I also thank religious leaders  for  praying  for this country and I believe God has been hearing your prayers. We will do our best within the period that God has asked us to occupy the positions we are occupying.”

Jonathan also observed that in the world today, the expectations of the society  were  hardly met by leaders.

He said, “When Christ was born, the Jews were told that God was giving them a King and a  saviour.

“Today,  because we are used to reading the Bible, immediately you hear of the word ‘saviour,’  you will think about Christ and his  attributes.

“The Jews were being dominated by the Romans, it was like when we were under the colonial masters. The Jews thought they  were getting somebody who will lead them to a war and  chase  away  the Romans for them to be free. But the war they expected was not Christ’s  own style.

“I think it is only in one place that Christ was quoted as carrying the cane and flogging people in the synagogue  for  trading and doing other   things  they were  not  to do  in the House of God.

“So today, we have similar situation. The expectations of the society are hadly met by leaders.”

Earlier in his sermon, the Anglican Primate had urged Nigerians to ensure that peace reigned  in the country because Nigerians had  no where to seek refuge in crisis situation.

He urged them not to join evildoers to wreak havoc on the country because   most sponsors of violence have houses abroad.

He said, “As we celebrate Christmas, we call you to pray for peace not just for yourself or the nation but also for the world.

“We should pray for agents of war, bloodletting and hostilities. Let us pray that God will restrain the powers of evil.

“How  many Nigerians can Togo, Dahomey, Ghana, Sierra Leone, Liberia absorb as refugees? It is important for Nigerians to ensure peace reigns here because we have nowhere to go. God has given us the best of places; it is in our interest to maintain it.

“I charge you to work for peace. We must be grateful to God by living responsibly, not conducting ourselves as if nothing can happen.

“Do not join anybody to cause trouble or confusion because you may be the recipient and there is no where to go. Some of you don’t even have passports. But those who are instigating you have bank accounts and houses abroad. They will run there and come back when things have settled down. You may not be alive then.

“Do not join evildoers, it is not part of Christmas. Refugees are not the best set of people. Don’t make yourself a refugee.”

The clergyman said there was no link between God and violence.

He observed that most economies  being  referred to  as rich and prosperous,  produced and sold weapons to kill and maim.

The service’s Old Testament lesson from Isaiah 9: 2, 6 and 7 was read by the wife of the President, Patience, while the President read the epistle from Hebrews 1: 1-12.

Wife: Saudi Blogger Sentenced To Death For Apostasy

Raif Badawi, a blogger in Saudi Arabia who has been imprisoned for violating the nation's anti-cybercrime law, was given the

death penalty for apostasy by a higher court Wednesday, his wife told CNN.

Badawi founded the Free Saudi Liberals website and was originally given a seven-year sentence in July.

A Jeddah criminal court found Badawi, who has been in prison since June 2012, guilty of insulting Islam through his website and in television

comments. His lawyer appealed the sentence, which also included 600 lashes.

A higher court found him guilty of apostasy, his wife said.

From April: Family pleads for blogger

"It is an emotion I cannot describe. I never imagined this would happen," she said. "I thought maybe they would reduce the sentence but this is

unimaginable. The whole thing is about a website."

Badawi's legal troubles started shortly after he started the Free Saudi Liberals website in 2008. He was detained for one day and questioned

about the site. Some clerics even branded him an unbeliever and apostate.

Human rights groups accuse Saudi authorities of targeting activists through the courts and travel bans. Amnesty International has said Badawi's

"is clear case of intimidation against him and others who seek to engage in open debates about the issues that Saudi Arabians face in their daily

lives."

CNN could not reach the Saudi Arabian government officials for comment.

Badawi's wife, Ensaf Haidar, and the couple's three children now live in Lebanon.

Casual Sex: The Most Promiscuous Cities In The World

Alcohol might be cheaper than water in Tijuana, but sex is even cheaper than that in Pattaya.

The intimate revolution which took place in the 1960′s and 70′s opened the door to what is known in modern times as causal sex. Although it’s not an accepted lifestyle for most religions, it doesn’t stop the trend from becoming more popular. Casual sex is defined as having intercourse with one or multiple partners without emotional attachment. The purpose is purely based on physical satisfaction or indulgence.

http://afroprofile.com/blog/2013/12/24/casual-sex-the-most-promiscuous-cities-in-the-world/

Glamour Magazine recently ran a survey consisting of 2000 women and their casual sex experiences. Ranging from ages 18 to 64, 82% confessed to having at least one such experience. Only 19% of those regret that it happened and most of the women found their partners at familiar places.

According to a study done regarding Spring Break in Florida and 680 college students from Canada who went there, it was concluded that the event is prone to set a comfortable setting for casual sex. The students all agreed that they felt much more at ease in taking part in intimate activities there rather than at home.

Films and television shows openly entertain the lifestyle of non-romantic intimate encounters while the western world is embracing the trend. Currently most of the studies done on this topic make use of college students, seeing as most of these activities tend to take place around campus. Numerous experts blame the casual sex movement for puberty being reached much earlier and the increase of intimate activity in teens.

Due to its late development, religions are vague about the guidelines and don’t really give clear views on the subject. Very few religions like Wicca promote a healthy sex life without concern about marriage or romantic relationships. In general most religions either condemn or frown upon such behavior.

Not all countries have given into the revolution, and rules surrounding it mainly depend on religion and culture. Even though a lot of people still choose to refrain from having causal sex, there is no denying the influence it has on the world today. Here is the list of the top 10 cities in the world that have the most casual sex.

Bomb Attacks On Christians Kill 35 On Christmas

Two bombs in Christian areas of the Iraqi capital Baghdad have killed at least 35 people, officials have said.
One device exploded near a Catholic church when worshippers were leaving a Christmas Day service, killing 24. Another bomb ripped through a market, killing 11 more people.
Christian leaders denied that the attacks had targeted worshippers.
Iraq’s ancient Christian community has more than halved in recent years, from an estimated population of 900,000.
Both blasts happened in the Dora area of Baghdad.
The bomb outside St John’s Catholic church exploded in a parked car, shortly after a blast at an outdoor market in the mainly Christian al-Athorien district.
No-one has yet admitted carrying out the attacks, which came as Christmas Day services were held across Iraq.
During a service at St Joseph Chaldean church in the Karrada area of the capital, Father Saad Seroub called for peace and security for all Iraqis.
‘Feeding terrorism’
Churches have been targeted across the country since the fall of Saddam Hussein in 2003.
An attack by gunmen in 2010 on the Catholic Cathedral in Baghdad left more than 50 people dead.
A surge in sectarian violence this year has claimed the lives of more than 7,000 civilians in Iraq, the highest annual number of fatalities since 2008.
Most of the attacks have targeted Shia civilians and the smaller Sunni population.
The bloodshed escalated in April, after the army raided a Sunni anti-government protest camp.
The conflict in Syria has also prompted a spike in attacks, many involving al-Qaeda in Iraq.
Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki told the BBC on Sunday that the Syrian crisis was “feeding terrorism in the region”.

I Fasted And Prayed For 10 Months Before I Became The Governor.- Rotimi Amechi

RIVERS State Governor and Chairman of the Nigerian Governors’ Forum has attributed the increasing level of insecurity in the Federal Government.

He also said God, and not man, installed him as the state governor because he fasted and prayed for 10 months before he became the governor.

Amaechi said rather than chase criminals away from the state, the police had decided to shoot innocent citizens.

The governor, who spoke at Saint Vincent De Paul Catholic Church in Port Harcourt on Wednesday, said insecurity in the state was growing because the police had failed to do their job in an unbiased manner.

Maintaining that his government was installed by Jesus Christ, Amaechi urged the people to disregard those who claimed to be responsible for his emergence as the governor of the state.

He said, “As a government led by me, a government installed by Christ, if anybody tells you he installed me, tell him it is a lie. Tell him that I said I prayed for 10 months and I fasted from 6am to 6pm, calling on Christ to come down and Christ came down mightily and installed me as governor.

“That is why you can see that in the face of human effontery, I have been able to stand face to face with them and I say I have Christ in me.

“You must rise in that same spirit of having Christ in you and confront those who are confronting you. You must stand up for Christ because the Bible says ‘faith without work is dead.’

“We must not die. We must live and the way to live is to celebrate Christ and the way to celebrate Christ is to confront Satan and Satan is in different forms and shapes.

“If the police shoot at you, they are satanic. If government denies you your right to live, that government is satanic,” Amaechi added.

“All these you may want to attribute to political disagreement in Rivers State; but it is not true. It is simply because of those who lead us in Abuja; because the police is an establishment of the Federal Government and they have refused to curb the excesses of the police.

“Instead of the police to chase away criminals, they are shooting at innocent citizens. Don’t stop at praying. We knew we prayed, but as you pray, you must rise on your feet and confront the challenges of insecurity.”

Al-mustapha Reacts To Obj's Letter To GEJ

Major Hamza Al-Mustapha, former Chief Security Officer to late Head-of-State, Gen. Sani Abacha, has challenged ex-President Olusegun Obasanjo, to a public debate on any issue concerning Nigeria.
Al-Mustapha threw the challenge in an interview with the Hausa Service of the Voice of America, monitored in Abuja, on Wednesday.
The former CSO was reacting to news reports about portions of a letter written by Obasanjo to President Goodluck Jonathan, alleging that snipers were being trained in North Korea.
He explained that he was not around when Obasanjo’s letter became public, but read about it in the media.
The military officer said ex-President Obasanjo knows that he knows Nigeria as much as he (Obasanjo) knows the country. As such, he was ready to face the former President anywhere in the world to discuss Nigeria.
Al-Mustapha said “first of all, he (Obasanjo) did not mention me by name in his letter. Secondly, he knows that “I know Nigeria as much as he does, if he has something to tell me, I want him to come out and tell me straight.
“He should ask me or challenge me, I challenge him to (discuss) anything about Nigeria that he wants to talk about even long before he became Head-of-State (1976-1979), I am ready to meet him in public anywhere in the world”.
Responding to a specific question on allegations that he was privy to the on-going training of snipers, Al-Mustapha swore that there was nothing of the sort.
The former CSO said he is a Muslim and has over the years facilitated the recruitment of northerners into security agencies and has never been involved in anything to betray the north.
Al-Mustapha also said he has forgiven all those who harmed him during his travails.
He observed that people who did not fear God find it difficult to understand how sincere he is when he said he has forgiven all.
He accused an unnamed individual based in Kaduna, for spreading falsehood about his person and his activities.
According to him, from 1974 till date, there have been so many secrets that encouraged lies to cover the truth. This, he said could be cleared up if Obasanjo takes up the challenge to face him in public.

Kwankwaso Teaches Okonjo-iweala How To Balance Budget

Nigeria’s finance minister, Dr. Ngozi Okonjo Iweala said Nigeria will be spending 78 per cent of its income on recurrent expenditure in 2014 and 22 per cent on capital projects. Nearly a trillion naira will be borrowed to finance the capital projects.

But in Kano, Rabiu Kwankwaso, an engineer, who doubles as the governor of the state, has demonstrated how best to run a national budget, at state level: Kwankwaso in fiscal 2014 year, will be spending 32 per cent of the expected income of N219.2 billion on recurrent expenses. Capital expenditure will take the rest.

“The 2014 budget has a projected recurrent revenue N126, 960,422,861 and capital receipt of N81, 526,211,850. It also has a recurrent allocation of N70, 621,425,720 and capital estimates of N148, 659,847,767. This represents a total of 68% capital and 32% recurrent estimate,”Kwankwaso said.

In some of the highlights of the budget, the state will be financing free and compulsory education at all levels in the state, at a cost of about N35 billion, about 20 per cent of the budget “in our collective resolve to drive a knowledge base economy, government has already concluded arrangement to adopt a free education for all indigene at all levels: primary, secondary and tertiary institutions in the state.”

“This is in addition to sponsoring of Kano indigenes to pursue their various degree programmes locally and internationally”, pointing out that the commencement of the free education for all Kano state indigenes from primary, secondary and tertiary institutions starting from the new academic session in 2014.”

Other policy programmes in 2014 fiscal year under education include, N6.5 billion for the continuation work at Schools for Islamic Studies in each of the 44 LGAs Kwankwaso revealed that N2 billion has been set aside for the continuation of 44 Technical Schools one in each LGAs; adding that N241 million has equally been earmarked for the procurement of 15 mobile computing solar powered container box.

He said that N250 million was also earmarked for the establishment of another boarding primary school in the state, adding that N1.3 billion has been allocated for the Construction and furnishing of 268 additional classrooms in the state.

The Governor further stated that Northwest University got N3billion for the continuation of construction of Faculty building, senate building and other infrastructure, adding under the 2014 approriation bill N586 million was earmarked for the continuation work at former Magwan Water Restaurant to First Lady College.

The North Is Not One And Will Never Be In 2015

In the course of many political debates, I see fake analysts making reference to how the North is against GEJ. It really makes me laugh. It is either these fake analysts have their heads in the sand or are extremely naive.

The north right now is far more divided than the south. The north is divided both along religious lines and ethnic lines. Many minority northerners are completely fed up to the teeth with the shenanigans of the "born-to-rule" click. Just look at the response from the OBJ letter to see a clear divide in the North. This will clearly play out in 2015. GEJ will only have low votes in the core Northern states, just like he did in 2011, because of religious bias. Interestingly, these include all the states of the G7 crew. So GEJ's votes wont change much in 2015, from what it was in 2011. Even the Northern governors forum is completely in disarray.

As for Amaechi, he could not even fill a little stadium a few days ago. The stands were all empty. Most people who will go for his rally in PH will just be going to have fun, not because they will vote against GEJ in 2015. The south west will be clearly divided in 2015 and GEJ will still have majority votes. APC has lost credibility in many south west states, especially Lagos and Ekiti. APC has even lost the little momentum they were building with their wooing of expired PDP goons like OBJ and IBB.

Iheanacho's Manchester City Move Collapses, FC Porto His Likely Destination?

Despite being released from the home based Super Eagles camp to sign for Manchester City in England, it has been revealed to us that Kelechi Iheanacho is yet to sign with the former English champions.
Kennedy Ezenwere, Kelechi Iheanacho's mentor and coach at the Taye Academy he played for in Owerri, Imo state, revealed that Kelechi is presently in Lagos, and has decided to move to FC Porto in Portugal, rather than Manchester City.
“Kelechi has not signed for City; he’s presently in Lagos and has now changed his mind saying he wants to move to FC Porto instead”
“I really don’t know the terms of the agreement but I wish him well because his father says he wants him to go to Manchester City but Kelechi is saying that city is too big for him” he told brilafm.net
Iheanacho was voted as the MVP at the 2013 FIFA U17 World Cup in the United Arab
Emirates where he helped Nigeria to clinch her fourth U17 title.

6 Things Women Notice In Men Right Away

First impressions may be made in moments, but they predict the course your relationships follow. So if you know what exactly about you draws in the votes, you can perfect it -- and do better with the opposite sex. So what do women notice immediately?

According to Dr Gordon Patzer, author of Looks: Why They Matter More Than You Ever Imagined, and one of the world’s leading authorities on physical attractiveness, a lot of what women notice in the first few minutes is appearance-based. “A substantial portion of the six features of a man are apparent, in terms of height, weight and overall physical attractiveness,” he says. And when appearances don’t make the cut, the door slams shut on further interactions. Here’s a list of things to keep that door open.

1. Physical stature
Yep, you knew this already: size matters. Height and weight are right on top of the list of things women notice. “Too much or too little of either immediately classifies the man as unattractive to women, and closes the door before less physically obviously features (such as confidence) can be determined,” says Dr Patzer. Take heart though, the acceptable range is influenced by the woman's own height and weight.

2. Appearances and attractiveness
Yes, beauty is skin deep, but it’s going to get women to explore what lies beneath. Attractiveness does include what you were born with, but your genes alone can't scuttle your chances. What really counts is what you do with your hair, clothes, grooming and basic hygiene. If you can't make the effort, women certainly are not going to work hard to learn more about you!

3. Smile
Once women are done assessing your overall build, women will look at your smile. “The ability to smile, particularly within the first few minutes of meeting, sends a welcoming, non-hostile signal to women,” says Dr Patzer. There is one proviso though -- the smile must show off reasonably good-looking teeth. It's never too late to fix an appointment with the dentist!

4. Humour
Another reason to show off those pearly whites! Women like men who have the ability to laugh. Even better, make the woman laugh. That instantly nets you bonus points!

5. Confidence
Women find confident men attractive. According to Dr Sameer Malhotra, head of psychiatry and psychotherapy department at Fortis Hospital in New Delhi, within the first few minutes of meeting, women will not only suss out your level of confidence, they will also interpret the vibes you give out and how you think. “Women notice how clear or decisive you are and whether you approach things positively.” Just remember, cockiness and arrogance are not the same as confidence!

6. Conversation
Men have successfully given womankind the impression of being strong and silent. So women aren't expecting you to have mad talking skills. All you've got to do hold her attention. “We know (scientifically) that the more or longer that a woman gets to know a man, the more physically attractive he becomes in her mind,” says Dr Patzer. Women are looking for someone to keep up the conversation -- so forget the one-liners, just be yourself!

It Is Obvious APC Takes Nigerians For Idiots

You mean to tell me APC leaders have been courting the likes of IBB, Atiku, OBJ and co, to join their party?

So all this noise they've been making about being progressive, anti-corruption, stone Stella Oduah etc etc...and they go and court Babangida?

Well, finally they've revealed themselves as a group who just want 'their own turn to chop'.

Utterly lacking in principles to the point of sheer absurdity.

Do they really expect Nigerians to accept that a party with IBB, Atiku and OBJ at the helm, is a credible alternative to the Jonathan administration?

Do they take Nigerians for dolts?

Who is even advising them?

Their political strategists need to be shown the door, as they are worse than useless.

Completely out of touch with the sentiments of ordinary Nigerians.

As for electability, I can think of a no more suicidal step for that party to take than to court those tainted, octogenarian, baggage-laden dregs of the past.

Nigerians will simply not stand for it.

"They Are Political Pr0stitutes"- Soyinka Blasts APC Leaders

Nobel laureate, Wole Soyinka, Sunday, lashed out
angrily at the patron-shopping strategy of the
opposition All Progressives Congress, APC,
suggesting that it lacked moral focus, and had the
feel of political prostitution.
In a short email message, the professor of literature
said he was triggered by media reports that an “APC-
led group …has been paying courtesy visits to former Heads of States” prompting him to ask if the party had thought it through what disaster this would mean for the nation.
Mr. Soyinka said the media report that stirred him to respond to the APC had these words: ”Tinubu added that the APC had resolved to rescue Nigeria,
appealing to Obasanjo to lead the mission. We’re
resolved and determined to rescue Nigeria. We want you as navigator”.
He then asked if the APC was truly comfortable that
this represented its core principles.
“Would it be correct to state that their purpose is
captured in the following Mission Statement?” he
queried, claiming an impending political disaster,
with grave humanitarian consequence.
“If this attribution is correct, may I urge you, as an
urgent public service, to advise families to begin the stockpiling of life-belts for the guaranteed crash.
“Don’t forget to alert the coastguards – Ecowas, AU,
UNO etc etc – to be on the alert for possible salvage
operations.”
Mr. Soyinka then hinted at the moral opportunism of the patron-shopping strategy by asking: “By the way,
If General Sani Abacha were alive today, would he
also have been on the ship’s complement? As
Captain perhaps?”
Some Nigeria’s pro-democracy activists had also in
separate interviews with PREMIUM TIMES Saturday
expressed outrage at the invitation handed the likes of former Presidents Ibrahim Babangida and
Olusegun Obasanjo and former Vice President Atiku
Abubakar to join the APC, saying the party’s
progressive posturing might after all be a fluke.
The activists argued that by desperately going in
search of these Nigerians believed to have
contributed to bringing the nation to its knees, the
opposition party has shown that it is not different
from the ruling Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in
ideology and that it is only interested in grabbing
power.
The APC leaders have embarked on an elaborate
membership recruitment with visits to some of the
country’s past leaders, including former military
president, Ibrahim Babangida; former head of state,
Abdulsalami Abubakar; former vice president, Atiku
Abubakar.
All, except Mr. Abdulsalami, are members of the PDP.
They had also visited and successfully wooed five
governors elected on the ticket of the PDP, namely
Musa Kwankwaso (Kano), Murtala Nyako (Adamawa),
Chibuike Amaechi (Rivers), Abdulfatah Ahmed
(Kwara) and Aliyu Wamakko (Sokoto), all of who
defected to the opposition party on November 26.
Other notable members of the PDP who have joined
the APC are Senators Bukola Saraki and Abdullahi
Adamu, former governors of Kwara and Nasarawa
State respectively.
Only last Wednesday, 37 other PDP members of the
House of Representatives decamped to the APC, thus making it the majority party in Nigeria’s lower
legislative chamber.
On Saturday, the APC leaders also visited former
President Olusegun Obasanjo, who recently wrote an 18-page letter complaining among other things, the state of the PDP.
The activists expressed anger and disappointment
that the APC, whose registration last May they hailed, had gone on to recruit characters, who might taint it with conservative bent.
A Senior Advocate of Nigeria, SAN, Femi Falana, said
the APC leaders were recruiting the former leaders
who have been excluded from what he termed the
“come and chop” policy of the PDP.
“In bourgeois politics, the ongoing development is
called ‘realignment forces.’ In the process, those who have been excluded from the ‘come and chop’ policy of the PDP are now being asked to choose their place at the table in case the APC takes over power in 2015,” Mr. Falana said.
Lamenting that the APC leaders did not have any
plan to woo the youth who constitute more than 60
per cent of the country’s voting population, Mr.
Falana said the mobilisation of the past leaders and
other PDP chieftains had basically shown that the
opposition leaders were only interested in power.
He said, “The APC has no plan to woo the youth who
constitute more than 60% of the voting population. It is the belief of the leaders of both APC and PDP that the 2015 general election is going to be fixed by the traditional manipulators of elections. This is the basis of the ongoing mobilisation of the PDP chieftains including those who cannot win elections in their own wards.
“By wooing discredited military and civilian despots
who have destroyed the country since 1966, the APC has shown that it is only interested in power for the sake of power.
“I understand that one of the retired generals is
going to become the chair of the Board of Trustees of the APC! This is a case of alienation from the people.
How can APC leaders believe that Nigerians want
Generals Obasanjo and Babangida to be rehabilitated after destroying the country?
“The duo ruled for 20 years and ruined the country in the process. General Obasanjo has just confessed
that he has been installing incompetent leadership
since 1979. And he is not ashamed to make that
provocative disclosure. Has he offered public apology for his maxima culpa before wooing him?
“The situation is not different in a number of states
and local council areas where the new PDP is busy
taking over all the structures of the APC. Since the
APC is positioning itself to retain the status quo it
cannot become a truly progressive party.”
Mr. Falana said the PDP had started fighting back
ferociously and violently because the stakes were
high, adding that huge funds and weapons of mass
destruction were already being assembled for the
general elections while money, religion, ethnicity andother primordial sentiments were being deployed to confuse the electorate.
Another lawyer and activist, Bamidele Aturu said he
was not surprised by the visit of the APC leaders to
some of these prominent Nigerians, adding that he
had always known that there was no difference
between the PDP leaders and their APC counterpart.
“APC is not different from the people they are
visiting,” Mr Aturu said. “They belong to the same
ideological camp. They (APC) are not progressives as they claimed. You are not a progressive because you gave yourself that label.”
“They are going round to woo these people because
of the succession crisis in the PDP. What then is the
difference in ideology and vision? PDP believes in
selling everything. They sold PHCN. I won’t be
surprised if some of them (APC) leaders bought it.”
Mr. Aturu challenged the APC leaders to tell
Nigerians how that they are different from the PDP
members they are wooing.

APC Platform Will Include Free Education For Nigerians At All Levels

Rivers State Government made free education compulsory to all children of school age in the state, Kano state Governor, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso just declared free and compulsory education at all levels in the state during the presentation of 2014 appropriation bill to the House of Assembly revealed that the gesture would commenced from 2014 academic year. Education has been high priority in several APC controlled states.

Legislators in Kano are already working on a reciprocity law which would enable 'indigenes' of other states to enjoy this benefit provided that Kano State indigenes receive reciprocal treatment in those states with the limitation certain stipulations currently being worked out.

The details being worked out regarding the reciprocity mentioned, will become mute as APC will implement the free education program nation-wide. Additionally, the platform will require that every Nigerian obtains a Primary school education with jail terms for parents who do not make their children available for the said education. All 400+ Almajiri school initiated by the current government will incorporate convention educational programs in addition to Islamic teachings.

Funding this program should not be a problem once import waivers totaling N700billion in 2013 alone are eliminated, and corruption is put in check, as Ribadu and Buhari are known to be capable of doing. To those who do not yet understand that the ongoing effort to unseat PDP is very real and essentially unstoppable, and to the doubting Thomases among us, I say just wait and see what 2014 will bring.

For now, I say congratulations in advance to APC if indeed Free Education is included in its platform as expected.

RIP to the usual suspect.

Gay Man Burned Alive In Uganda Days After Anti-gay Bill Was Passed Into Law.

Uganda has last week signed a bill that further bans homosexuality. According to CNN, a man was even burned to death for being gay shortly.
The bill's original 2009 version, named "Kill The Gays," went as far as calling for the death penalty for certain homosexual acts; that provision was shelved following international furore.
Under its latest iteration, anyone who conducts marriage ceremonies for same-sex couples faces seven years behind bars. Failure to report homosexual activity to police is also criminalized. Doctors who treat gays, landlords who rent them property and those suspected of being LBGTQ are subject to five-year prison terms under the bill.
Anyone who offers support to homosexuals will also be committing a criminal offense, which can reportedly extend to counseling.
Though homosexuality has already been illegal in the Southeast African nation, some argued this bill needed to be passed to safeguard against Western values.

STELLA ODUAH TO Journalist-you Don’t Read Or Understand English

BMW Scandal : Defiant Oduah Says She Will Not Quit - PM News, Lagos
Posted: Dec, 24 2013, 3:12PM

Nigeria’s embattled aviation minister, Stella Oduah, will not resign and those who claim the House of Representatives had called for her resignation or sack should go back to school, she said on Tuesday in Lagos, southwestern Nigeria.

Oduah said federal lawmakers had neither indicted her nor called on President Goodluck Jonathan to sack her.

Rather, she said, what the House recommended was for the presidency to review some of the things in the aviation sector.

The minister, who inspected remodelled facilities at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Lagos, was asked by a journalist if she would resign following federal lawmakers recommendations to President Jonathan.

She replied, ” I think it means you don’t read or you probably don’t understand English because I read it too. What is there is that Mr. President can and should review. That is what they said there. Probably, you should go back to school.”

Oduah’s statement left a mammoth of journalists who had thronged the airport bewildered.

The Nigerian House of Representatives last week endorsed the report of its Committee on Aviation, which had indicted Aviation Minister, Stella Oduah, over the purchase of two BMW cars at the hefty sum of N255 million.

The House endorsed the report at a Plenary last Thursday.

The report concluded that for approving cars that were not budgeted for in 2013 and for an amount far above the approval limit of the ministry, Oduah had broken the law.

It said the minister committed the breach by approving expenditure of over N643 million for the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority to procure 54 vehicles this year.
The House noted that her approval limit as a minister was N100 million.

The House asked President Goodluck Jonathan to decide whether he should continue to retain her services as a minister of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

A major recommendation of the committee, which was adopted, read, “The House urges the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria to review the continued engagement of the Minister of Aviation, Stella Oduah, for having contravened the Appropriation Act, 2013 and the approved, revised threseholds by exceeding the Ministry of Aviation’s approval limit of N100m by the purchase of 54 vehicles valued at N643m.”

The endorsement of the report by the House elicited a prompt response from Oduah, who described the action as premeditated and with a hidden agenda.

“We are shocked and disappointed that in spite of the deluge of representations and evidences provided by the Aviation Minister, Princess Stella Adaeze Oduah and all invited stakeholders on the matter, the House would reach conclusions that have only confirmed that there was a hidden Agenda in the entire exercise from the beginning,” said Joe Obi, Odua’s spokesperson.

Speaking on the remodelled airport, Oduah assured that the airport would be commissioned before the end of first quarter of 2014.
“We want to be able to start the usage of all these facilities by first quarter of next year. What is very key is that passenger travelling experience will be very very different,” Oduah said.

She added: “It will be the way it should be; it means you have the comfort, you have the safety and you have the security and most importantly as you’ve seen we’ve increased the capacity which means you have ample space to really do what you are supposed to do.”
On the national carrier, she said she encountered a bit of a challenge.

“We are trying to rectify that challenge. I think we will do it very soon but the important thing is that we want to give Nigerians a national carrier that we all aspire to have. That that will be a true representation of all of us, that that can be bought from the market. That that will be professionally and efficiently managed,” she said.

She didn’t go into details about the challenge, told journalists they don’t need to know about the issue.

President Jonathan's Christmas Message To The Nation

President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan, in the spirit of the Yuletide season, sent out a Christmas message to the Nation.

The message read:

Dear Compatriots, I greet and felicitate with you all as we celebrate Christmas once again. I join our Christian compatriots and all other Nigerians in giving thanks to God Almighty whose Grace and Benevolence has helped our nation to overcome the many challenges it has had since we celebrated Christmas last year.

The annual commemoration of the birth of our Lord, Jesus Christ is a most auspicious time for us, as individuals and as a nation, to rededicate ourselves to the virtues and ideals which the Messiah preached and exemplified during his earthly ministry.

Let us all therefore resolve this Christmas to make the ideals of peace, harmony, tolerance, love and goodwill to all even more manifest in our interactions with others.

It remains my sincere belief that no height of human accomplishment is beyond us as a nation, if we can overcome our differences, such as they are, and forge a binding national consensus to put the progress and well-being of the country above all other considerations.

My administration will do all within its powers and abilities to ensure that when representatives of our people assemble for the forthcoming national conference next year, they will have every opportunity and encouragement to make very significant contributions towards forging the required consensus for sustained national peace, unity and progress.

It is also my expectation that the national conference will contribute in no small measure towards the urgent resolution of contentious issues which currently hinder our progress as a nation.

With God Almighty as our Guide, Strength and Enabler, My Administration will continue to implement its Agendafor National Transformation in furtherance of its avowed commitment to improving the living conditions of all Nigerians.

We will continue to count on the prayers, support and cooperation of all patriotic Nigerians in the coming year as we consolidate and build on our achievements in several sectors including national security, power supply, communications, transportation, health and education.

As we commemorate the birth of the Prince of Peace, let us all strive to honour Him more by living our lives as He taught; by making personal sacrifices for the good of others, by showing greater love for others, by being fairer and more honest in our dealings with others, by being ever-willing to forgive those who offend us and by always extending goodwill towards others.

On behalf of myself, my family and the Federal Government, I wish you all very joyful Christmas celebrations, and a peaceful and prosperous 2014.

Ex-Senate President Writes Obasanjo, Blasts Ex-President Over Letter To Jonathan

A former senate president, Ameh Ebute, has launched a stinging attack on former President Olusegun Obasanjo for penning a fiercely critical letter accusing President Goodluck Jonathan of corruption, incompetence and clannishness.

Mr. Ebute, who led the senate in 1993, lambasted the former president as lacking the moral standing to criticize Mr. Jonathan, since he had failed on all indices of leadership in his 11 years as Nigeria’s military and civilian leader.

He called Mr. Obasanjo’s letter “ill-conceived” and ”an open assault on the seat of power in Nigeria”.

In an 18-page letter, Mr. Obasanjo had blamed President Jonathan for the crisis engulfing the ruling Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, and criticized his handling of the Boko Haram insurgency. He also accused Mr. Jonathan of condoning corruption, authorizing the training of snipers ahead of the 2015 elections, and running the nation’s economy aground.

On the PDP crisis, Mr. Ebute said Mr. Obasanjo remains the fold’s most divisive leader, whose penchant for flouting stipulated party rules, continues to haunt the ruling party.

He said while the former president accuses President Jonathan of insincerity about his ambition for a fresh term, and criticises the president for refusing to disclaim calls to stand for re-election in 2015, Mr. Obasanjo did far worse in 2002 while he sought re-election, and in 2007 while making an unconstitutional bid for a third term.

“As Chief Obasanjo bestrode the PDP like an intimidating colossus, electoral decency was jettisoned, internal democracy trampled upon and good conscience buried as he dealt ruthlessly with all perceived enemies regardless of democratic culture and ethos,” he said.

On corruption, Mr. Ebute said the former president ran one of the most sleaze-filled administrations in Nigeria’s history.

He accused Mr. Obasanjo of mismanaging the nation’s oil and gas revenues in his eight-year term as president during which he personally supervised the petroleum ministry, while his “kinsman and protégé”, Funsho Kukpolokun, held sway at the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, NNPC.

“Nigeria’s oil and gas revenue was helplessly at the discretion of the duo. Where was accountability and transparency?” he queried.

“While Nigerians accuse the regime of Gen. Ibrahim Babangida of institutionalizing corruption, it is common knowledge that Chief Obasanjo planted the seed of corruption and elevated it to unimaginable heights,” the former lawmaker said.

“When a sitting President influences major business tycoons who do business with government to launch and build a multi-million naira library in his village in his name, what does that amount to? When a sitting President, Chief Obasanjo, suddenly becomes a shareholder in Trans National Corporation of Nigeria Plc, a diversified conglomerate, owners of Transcorp Hilton and several oil and gas assets, what does that amount to?” he questioned.

On Boko Haram, Mr. Ebute said the former president failed miserably in his handling of the Niger Delta insurgency to earn the right to criticize Mr. Jonathan’s effort at containing the Islamist sect.

“It is pathetic that Chief Obasanjo’s sense of history could be so easily demented….Even when the activities of militants brought the economy to knee-jam and oil production plummeted from 2.5 million barrels a day to 700,000 barrels a day, his barking bull strategies brought no solution to the crisis,” Mr. Ebute said.

He said the Obasanjo era was replete with tales of human rights violation, targeted killings and unresolved political assassinations- occurrences that are absent under Mr. Jonathan.

Mr. Ebute said the greatest discredit to Mr. Obasanjo’s hyped credential of a detribalized leader was his suggestion that Nigerians, incensed by Mr. Jonathan’s failures, may regard his presidency as the last president from a minority ethnic stock.

“It is unfortunate that Chief Obasanjo could degenerate to fan the embers of ethnicity in such an insidious and reckless manner,” he said. “But we must remind Chief Obasanjo that Nigeria is not an enterprise of an oligarchy and that the days of hegemonic rule are gone. Chief Obasanjo should extricate himself from the garb of narrow mindedness and pettiness and be broad in his perceptive values. Nigeria belongs to all, majorities and minorities alike.”

Mr. Ebute’s angry reaction came as Nigerians continue to debate Mr. Obasanjo’s letter. President Jonathan has yet to fully respond the several allegations raised by the former president.

First Ladies Are ‘Executive Prisoners’ – Aregbesola’s wife

Wife of Osun State Governor Rauf Aregbesola, Sherifat, on Monday described all first ladies in Nigeria as ‘executive prisoners.’
The first ladies comprised of the wife of the President and wives of the state governors.
Mrs. Aregbesola, who spoke in an interview with journalists before the end of the year party she organised for children in Osogbo, said contrary to the belief that first ladies were enjoying, she said that governors’ wives had no freedom to live the way they liked.
She said that herself and her colleagues were involved in some projects in order not to be useless throughout their stay at the various Government Houses.
She said, “All first ladies are executive prisoners. They are all here now (referring to security aides) and I can’t go to anywhere without them following me.
“Who among the First Ladies is free? Who among First Ladies can go anywhere they like? All the First Ladies are executive prisoners. We can only dress like this and smile to the cameras but we are executive prisoners.”
Wife of Enugu State Governor Sullivan Chime, Clara, recently cried out that she had been detained in the Government House, where she allegedly suffered depression. She has however been set free by her husband and has left the Government House.
Mrs. Aregbesola said that her husband was a very simple and caring man whom she would want to marry again.
He debunked the speculations that the governor was a religious fanatic, saying that her husband allowed children living under his roof to practice Christianity despite that he was a Muslim.
She said, “My husband is a very simple man. He is a very nice man and I wonder where those behind the rumour get their information from. I have lived with him for more than 30 years. I know him very well. He is very simple and kind. He is very passionate about the development of the state. He works so hard to ensure that things are working well.
“My husband allows everybody to practise their religions. His immediate younger sister is a Christian. Two of her children are living with us now and they go to church. I encourage them to go to church on Sunday.
“His younger brother, Rafiu, is a Christian; I mean he is a deacon. There are Ladi and Sikira who are Christians. The rumour about him being a fanatic is all about politics.”

Gambian Court Hears Suit Over Food Poisoning On Jonathan

A Gambian Magistrates’ Court at Kanifing Municipal Council has begun the hearing of a food poisoning trial involving President Goodluck Jonathan, his delegation and Gambia’s five-star hotel,Coco Ocean, an online media, Shanghai Daily.com reports.

Jonathan was said to have been served with food that had been preserved for a long period, causing him food poisoning during his two-day state visit in Gambia in November 2013.

According to the online medium, the Gambian police had charged the chef of Coco Ocean Hotel, Ayoub Aliris, with negligence and food poisoning on Jonathan and his delegation.

But Aliris denied the charge when he appeared before the Principal Magistrate, Sheriff Tabally.

According to the police charge sheet, Aliris was said to have unlawfully or negligently cooked prawns served to Jonathan and his entourage as a starter during a special lunch hosted in honour of the visiting Nigerian president.
When the matter came up yesterday, the police prosecutor, Superintendent Touray, appeared before the court together with defence lawyer, Edward Singhateh.

But Magistrate Tabally, who was expected to preside over the matter, was absent. He was said to have travelled to the capital less than 9 km away from the magistrate’s court.

Lawyer to the plaintiff, Edward Singhateh, was also informed at the court premises that his client, Aliris, was arrested again for the second time after his release from the police custody.

The plaintiff was said to be under the custody of the National Intelligence Agency, but was later transferred to the State Central Prison Mile Two.

Jonathan was caught in a glare of media publicity over a “stomach upset” he suffered and was forced to enter a hospital in London to seek medical attention.

A prosecution witness, Babucarr Gomez, also a cook at Coco Ocean, explained that a day after the lunch, he received a call from his boss informing him that there was an infection in the food served to the Nigerians.

Gomez, who said he was ordered by Aliris to prepare the food, said he also ate it and was “vomiting, experienced stomach ache and frequented the toilet.”

FG Budgets N59.9billion For 30,000 Ex- Militants In 2014

•Presidency gets N35.4b, confab
N700m
The Federal Government plans to
spend an estimated N59 billion on
ex-militants, according to details of
the 2014 Appropriation Bill presented
to both arms of the National
Assembly last week.
A breakdown of the figure showed
that while N23.6 billion will be spent
for payment of stipends to 30,000 ex-
militants, another N35.4 billion is
allocated for transformed ex-
militants.
The Presidency is to spend a total of
N33.4 billion within the fiscal year,
out of which N25.106 billion
represents recurrent expenditure,
while capital expenses is estimated
at N8.39 billion.
A further breakdown of the
Presidency’s budget shows that
N320.222 million is for ‘honorarium
and sitting allowance,’ N267.775
million for ‘welfare.’
The Economic and Financial Crimes
Commission (EFCC) has been
allocated N10.245 billion in the
budget, comprising N8.838 billion, or
86.26 per cent recurrent expenses
and N1.406 billion, or 13.72 per cent
as recurrent.
The budget also made provision of
N700 million for the proposed
National Dialogue.
Allocation proposed for the Education
sector increased to N493.45 billion of
the total, which represented 10.6 per
cent of the total 2014 budget
proposal.
The Appropriation Bill, presented by
Coordinating Minister for the
Economy, Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala,
before both arms of the National
Assembly, showed that N3.7 trillion,
representing 72 per cent of the N4.6
trillion, is to be spent on recurrent
expenditure, while N1.1 trillion was
earmarked for capital projects.
This, according to analysts, does not
tell of any plan for infrastructure
development in the coming year. The
document, they believe, failed to
address critical needs of the country.
On the revenue side, the Bill proposed
a Gross Federally Collectible Oil and
Gas Revenue of N7.16 trillion while
Non-Oil Revenue is projected at
N3.29 trillion.
Out of the oil revenue, total
deductions, including cost of crude oil
production, subsidy payments, and
domestic gas development is put at
N2.15 trillion, the same amount as in
2013.
The Federal Government budget
revenue is estimated at N3.73
trillion. Subsidy payments were
maintained at the 2013 level of
N971.1 billion.
On the fiscal balance side, the
government projected that in the 2014
financial year, fiscal deficit would be
about N911.96 billion, representing
about 1.90 per cent of the GDP while
total borrowing of N571 billion is
proposed in the Appropriation Bill,
representing a mere N6 billion
decrease from the approved 2013
figures.
For Edwin Ikhinmwin, a financial
analysts and former bank chief
executive, the 2014 budget does not
show any sign of helping to create
jobs, which would ordinarily come
through massive capital investment
“needed to rejuvenate our dilapidated
infrastructure and build new
capacities to support job creating
growth.”
Consequently, he told Daily
Independent, a “budget document
that provides only 27 percent for
capital expenditure is a trip in self
delusion and propagation of false
hood. The weight of recurrent
expenditure cannot be supported by
the capital budget. This is
symptomatic of a rent economy
whose long-term growth is not
sustainable.
It is like the winner of a lottery who
changed his style to expensive
consumption without investing in
sustaining wealth creation. The
money soon got finished and he
became poorer than before.”
Olufemi Awoyemi, and analyst and
Chief Executive of Proshare Nigerian,
an online finance and economy
portal, lamented the inequity in the
distribution of spending in the
budget.
He is particularly concerned that 72
per cent of the spending is earmarked
for payment of salaries and wages to
about 10 million workers or less than
six per cent of the nation’s 174
million people.
Even under in the days of military, he
lamented further, “capital expenditure
never grew below 40 per cent of total
budget… We just bloated the civil
service with every many of hangers’
on and political jobber.”
Mallam Garba Kurfi, Managing
Director, APT Securities and Funds
Limited, told News Agency of Nigeria
(NAN) in an interview in Lagos, that
the Nigerian economy would not
grow with the scant emphasis on
capital expenditure.
Allocating a mere N1.1 trillion for
capital expenditure is a child’s play,
considering the nation’s huge
infrastructure challenge, and that
Nigeria needs capital expenditure for
the economy to experience
meaningful growth and development.
Sehinde Adenagbe, Managing
Director, Standard Union Securities
Limited, however expressed
dissatisfaction with the late
presentation of the budget, calling for
quick passage of the budget, which
he regarded as the “road map for
economic activities”.
This, he said, would help companies
in decision making on investment,
since it is a pointer to the direction of
the nation’s economy in the new
year.
Harrison Owoh, Managing Director,
HJ Trust & Investment Limited, also
told NAN that the budget proposal
failed to address critical sectors of
the economy, and that it was indeed
disheartening that bulk of the
nation’s budget would be used for
wage payment instead of capital
projects.
He said that the Federal Government
should be bothered about the
sufferings of the masses and ensure
the provision of basic social
amenities.
